Shield
Dark blue and scarlet are the colors associated with personnel organizations. The upright sword symbolizes the total readiness of the unit; it is entwined by an oriental dragon commemorating the unit's "baptism of fire" in Vietnam.
Crest
The polestar, highlighting the four cardinal directions, indicates worldwide placement of troops and the unit's history and heritage. It is red to denote wartime service and valor while its points represent the organization's four Meritorious Unit Commendations. The two scimitars, crossed for strength and reinforcement, reflect the unit's campaigns in Southwest Asia. The wreath of palm, for victory, echoes the unit's wartime theaters of operation.
The coat of arms was approved on 23 June 1994.
